In preparation for future challenges and the ever-changing demands of the industries, TAR UC launched its Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (‘TAR UMT’) 10-Year Roadmap on 9 July 2022, an extensive strategic plan to propel this illustrious higher education institution to become a leading university capable of transforming the future.

At the official launching ceremony held at TAR UC’s Kuala Lumpur Main Campus, the published roadmap was unveiled by YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TARC Education Foundation, who was accompanied by Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Chairman of the Board of Governors of TAR UC and Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC.

In his speech, Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong shared the core of the roadmap which is to transform TAR UMT into a talent development hub of high influence in Malaysia and the region.

“TAR UMT’s strategic goal is to be a renowned future-proof talent development hub in Malaysia and the region by 2030. Future-proof talent development refers to the transformation of students into graduates who possess the 21st Century Skills with a local and regional orientation. This transformation process is the focal point of the 10-Year Roadmap. Guided by our vision, 3 strategic priorities have been identified, namely ‘Excellence in Education, Mission-Driven Research & Knowledge Creation’, ‘Operations Optimisation’, and ‘Sustainability Driven’. These are the pillars that will propel TAR UMT forward to become a Future-proof Talent Development Hub,” said Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee in his speech.

Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Liow in his speech expressed his aspirations for the institution guided by the roadmap going forward.

“The 10-Year Roadmap is set to be a beacon, lighting the way as it guides the university towards new horizons and achieving its strategic goal to be a future-proof talent development hub with significance in Malaysia and the region. Building on new initiatives and enhancing existing ones, it will set the stage for the university to excel in education, research, innovation, service, student experience and be an exemplary university,” he said.

During the launching ceremony, Prof Ir Dr Lee also took the stage to share some insights into the TAR UMT 10-Year Roadmap, its vision, mission, aspirations, finer details into the 3 strategic priorities and plans on how to achieve all the goals set in the roadmap as well as initiatives that are currently already taking place, like the ongoing construction of the Student Centre that will become one of many pivotal milestones in TAR UC’s evolutionary journey to become TAR UMT.

The TAR UMT 10-Year Roadmap also got a huge boost after Public Bank Berhad came on-board as a main sponsor to support the Roadmap’s promotional campaign.
