1 October 2019 has gone down in history as a historic and memorable day for TAR UC when the family members of the late YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and after whom this institution was named, paid a visit to TAR UC Kuala Lumpur Main Campus in Setapak. Datuk Seri Yew Teong Look, Member of the Board of Trustees of TARC Education Foundation, Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC and the senior management of TAR UC were at hand to welcome YM Sharifah Nur Aza Binti Tan Sri Syed Omar Shahabuddin, the niece of YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman, his three grandchildren, namely YM Tunku Muinuddin Putra, YM Tunku Rozani Putra and YM Tunku Munawirah Putra, as well as Encik Rizal Adam Hon who is the husband of YM Tunku Munawirah Putra, who came to visit the campus in conjunction with TAR UC’s 50^th Anniversary.

Upon arrival, the distinguished visitors were taken on a tour to the gallery, where Prof Ir Dr Lee had the pleasure to share the history of TAR UC and how YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman was instrumental in the setting up of TAR College back then.

The gallery tour continued with an overview of the various developments of the institution throughout the five decades, and was followed by the screening of TAR UC’s video.

The distinguished guests then took a short walk to Bangunan Tan Sri Khaw Kai Boh to view a plaque detailing the launch of the Phase 1 Building Project which was officiated by YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman on 24 February 1979. Subsequently they went to the Main Hall which was specially named after YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman in conjunction with TAR UC’s 50^th Anniversary. The visit to the Main Hall concluded with a traditional Malay dance performance by three TAR UC students for the special guests.

YM Tunku Muinuddin Putra expressed his joy in visiting TAR UC especially for its 50^th anniversary. “It is wonderful to witness the splendour of TAR UC in terms of its sprawling campus and especially of its role in providing quality tertiary education to many students from different backgrounds throughout these five decades. I congratulate the management of TAR UC for doing an excellent job and my family and I are very proud that this great institution is named after our ancestor, Tunku Abdul Rahman. I wish TAR UC will continue to progress in providing education to many more Malaysians from diverse ethnic backgrounds,” he said.
