KAMPAR, 25 December 2019 – Seventeen final year students in Diploma in Public Relations from Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) Perak Branch Campus successfully organised an Eyes Health Awareness Campaign titled “World Through Your Eyes” on 19 December 2019.
The main objective of the event was to promote eye health and vision care among secondary and tertiary students as well as the public community in Kampar and to raise funds for Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) and TAR UC Student Loan Fund respectively. This event successfully raised RM8,630.50 to be equally donated to MAB and TAR UC Student Loan Fund.
The event consisted of two sessions – an afternoon session as well as a night session. The afternoon session started at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. while the night session started at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The afternoon session consisted of many activities such as free vision examination conducted by Pertubuhan Kebajikan Masyarakat Saga Insan which runs their own free eye examination project called “Test Your Eyes” targeting school and tertiary students. They also provided free eye checks to adults who attended the event. Besides that, other activities included a blood donation drive, an exciting escape room, and a variety of eye-related fun mini-games. Local food vendors were also invited to participate in the carnival.
The night session showcased nine different acts by 27 volunteer performers in a talent concert called “Now You See Me”. The highlight of the night was a magic show performed by award-winning duo Mary & Yi.
