Benevolent Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

Is machine learning and artificial technology really safe for our futures? We don't know whether they are going to be good for the world as we know it, but we can try to ensure they can be by taking issues around the safety of machine learning seriously. This talk explores the issues around these advancements from a personal perspective, and asks you to reflect on how you think it will impact our futures.

Speaker: Dr Scott Turner, Principal Lecturer in Computing, University of Northampton

Dr Turner has worked in the interdisciplinary area of medical technologies, both with industry and academia, as well in teaching and learning within Computing, robotics and artificial intelligence.
He is also the Deputy Subject Leader in computing and Immersive Technologies, with responsibilities for Research and Postgraduate Courses in computing.
