   Introduction
 
Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) was established on 24 February 1969 under the leadership of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA). The College was named after the late YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Father of Malaysian Independence.
 
The College is a public institution of higher learning and is 50% subsidised by the Government for all its recurrent and capital expenditure. The other 50% is borne by the College Trustees.

The College FIRMLY BELIEVES that education to whomsoever it is given, regardless of age, sex, race, creed or class, will bring benefits to the people and country.

The College FULLY REALIZES its responsibility as an institution of higher learning in the context of the Malaysian education system and its role in fulfilling the common aspirations of the Malaysian people in the pursuit of education.

The College STAUNCHLY UPHOLDS the principle that education embraces not only the pursuit of truth and knowledge but also the development of a moral and ethical character.

   TAR COLLEGE CAMPUSES
 
TAR College currently has a student population of 26,000 students in its 6 campuses spread across Malaysia. The main campus is located in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia with five other branch campuses located in the states of Penang, Perak, Johor, Pahang, and Sabah.
 
TAR College KL Main Campus
     KUALA LUMPUR MAIN CAMPUS
 

The College Main Campus is situated in the suburb area of the capital of Kuala Lumpur, 5 kilometers away from the city centre. The 186-acre campus has comprehensive facilities such as fully-equipped science laboratories, modern engineering laboratories and workshops, CISCO laboratories, Internet laboratories, state-of-the-art broadcast studios, well equipped kitchens, food & beverage outlets, restaurants and bedrooms to support the training of students. The construction of a hi-technology Cyber Centre is currently in progress. Academic facilities are complemented with a wide array of sports and recreational facilities such as an Olympic sized swimming pool, a sports complex, a six-level library, gymnasiums, football field, tennis courts, squash courts, volleyball courts, basketball courts, dancing rooms and other recreational facilities.

   
   
TAR College Penang Branch Campus
     PENANG BRANCH CAMPUS
 

Up north of Malaysia, the Penang Branch Campus, which was established in 1994, is located in Tanjung Bungah, near the famous beaches of Penang Island, popularly known as “the Pearl of the Orient”.   A purpose-built campus on a 20-acre piece of land, the Penang Branch Campus is beautifully landscaped and nestled against scenic hills, and has won the Best Landscaped Campus in the Institute of Higher Learning Category for two consecutive years.

   
   
TAR College Perak Campus
     PERAK BRANCH CAMPUS
 

Located in the upper central region of the Malaysian peninsular in the town of Kampar is the Perak Branch Campus which began operations in 1998. The Campus occupies a land area of 50 acres which is surrounded by breath-taking scenery combining rolling hills and pristine lakes making it very conducive for study and relaxation.

     PAHANG BRANCH CAMPUS
 

Located in Karak in the eastern state of Pahang at the base of the Main Mountain Range of Malaysia surrounded by greenery with a scenic view of the distant mountains is the Pahang Branch Campus which began operations in January 1999. The surrounding residential areas provide affordable accommodation and shops are conveniently located close to the Branch Campus.

     JOHOR BRANCH CAMPUS
 

At the south of Peninsular Malaysia is the Johor Branch Campus, which began operations in 1998. The 50-acre campus is located in the town of Segamat, a mid-sized town with a charming fusion of old and new cultures. The famous Gunung Ledang and Air Panas waterfalls are located nearby.

   
   
TAR College Sabah Branch Campus
     SABAH BRANCH CAMPUS
 

Across the South China Sea to East Malaysia is the Sabah Branch Campus which is situated in Penampang in the state of Sabah which is home to some of the world's most spectacular natural attractions such as the world heritage site of Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia, and the world-renowned dive site of Sipadan Island.

TAR College offers more than 120 courses across a comprehensive range of disciplines which range from accounting, business studies, management, engineering, building, construction management, quantity surveying, ICT courses to the science and humanity areas such as biology and chemistry, sport and exercise science, counselling, psychology, mass communication, hospitality management, and also art and creative disciplines such as fashion design, graphic design and multimedia design.
