Five students from School of Busines Studies (‘SBS’) have done the College proud with their recent success in clinching top prizes for the professional papers of the ACCA, ICSA and CFP June 2012 examinations.

These students have much to say about the education provided at TAR College as they themselves found it to be a positively uplifting and vertically challenging educational experience in SBS

Woon Cheau Yng shared on how she studied for the ACCA paper: “I studied the ACCA past year papers and revised it again and again. For any questions which I could not understand, I would ask my lecturers and classmates”. This young lady said that she preferred group study because she was better able to understand the topic when it was discussed, but when it was nearer the examination, she preferred studying alone because it was then that she could focus.

Another prize winner, Tan Siew Hong, said: “TAR College lecturers are very helpful in guiding the students academically by providing notes, tutorials and practical assignments that help in the better understanding of subjects.  TAR College has a team of professional and well-qualified lecturers who are always ready to lend their hand and ears to students facing difficulties in their studies.” She continued to add that the lecturers were willing to spend extra time during student consultation hours and some of the lecturers even sacrificed their time to give extra revision classes.

Yap Lay Mei who is also a prize winner said that the college Library was a “knowledge haven” for her. “Other than it providing a conducive place to study, it also has a treasure trove of materials that I can find and use to improve my knowledge”, she added.

As for Lai Yat Lee, she hopes to realize her goal of becoming a Company Secretary in the future. However, she feels that she still has a long way to go.  So, her current goal would be to gain as much knowledge and experience as she can in the Corporate Secretarial field.

Last but not least, Lim Lee Tze has this piece of advice to share for those aspiring to do well in examinations. “Stay motivated; try to develop an interest towards each subject and allocate sufficient time for study and play.”

These students have definitely made a name for themselves in being top prize winners in the professional examinations. These successes would certainly put them in good stead when they embark on their careers.  Kudos to all of them!
