The Leonard Personality Centre of Excellence ('LPCOE') was officially declared open on 11 April 2014 in the presence of Professor Dr Leonard Yong, creator of the Leonard Personality Inventory, Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR University College, Ms Dearna Kee June Chen, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Arts and Humanities and Captain (Retired) Shanmugam, Centre Associate - Certified LPI Trainer and Consultant. Parked under the Faculty of Social Science, Arts and Humanities, the objectives of LPCOE are:
- To promote and encourage researches in the field of psychology especially personality development;
- To engage academic staff and students in research activities related to Leonard Personality Inventory;
- To share research findings so that TAR University College researchers can conduct further researches related to LPI Model;
- To conduct corporate training to clients and generate income through the training to fund the research activities for the center.
The LPCOE is to be self-sustaining by generating revenue via conducting personality-related corporate training for individuals and corporate clients, in addition to marketing the LPI software created and popularised by Professor Dr Leonard. As part of the 5-year plan, some of the activities in the pipeline include public talks, to conduct emotional excellence workshops for students, staff and public, to conduct researches, seminars and conferences, and to provide personality profiling services to existing Counselling and Psychology students.
