TARCian Run 2016 Pre-Event Press Conference

The pre-event press conference for the TARCian Run 2016 was successfully held on 22 February 2016 at TAR UC Kuala Lumpur Main Campus. The pre-event press conference was held to announce the date for the TARCian Run 2016 which will be on the 17 July 2016 as well as to publicise the event further. The event was chaired by Tan Sri Dato' Sri Barry Goh Ming Choon, President of TARCian Alumni Association (‘TAA') and Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC together with senior officials from TAR UC and exco members of TAA as well as sponsors and media partners.

In his welcoming address, Tan Sri Dato' Sri Barry Goh Ming Choon explained the objective of the run to the members of the media. "TARCian Run is a mini marathon, aimed at raising funds towards the TARC Education Foundation to fund the construction of a Student Centre in TAR UC's Kuala Lumpur Main Campus. Based on last year's TARCian Run success of raising a total of RM8,000 for the Student Centre, we hope to raise more funds this year and at the same time, TAA has decided to make TARCian Run an annual event to be held in the month of July," he explained. Tan Sri Dato' Sri Barry Goh also thanked the official Media Partners who had come on board to support the TARCian Run 2016 and they were Sin Chew Daily and The Star. In addition to this, he also thanked all the sponsors listed below who had contributed either cash or in kind for the run:

Meanwhile, Mr Lim Kok Eng, Organising Chairman of TARCian Run 2016 highlighted the run would be open to Malaysians only. "This year's run will have 8 categories and we are targeting to attract approximately 5,000 participants. Registration for the run will begin on 1 March and the closing date will be on 17 June 2016. Total cash prizes worth RM29,100 will be awarded to the winners of the various categories. There will also be attractive lucky draw prizes up for grabs. Members of the public can obtain more information or register themselves for the run at www.themarathonshop.com.my/tarcian2016. Apart from this, TAR University College students, staff and immediate family members as well as alumni and their immediate family members can obtain more information about the run and register themselves via the University College's Intranet at www.tarc.edu.my," he elaborated in detail.

Besides this, the announcement on the date and venue for the TAA CNY cum TAR UC Staff Appreciation Dinner was also made at the pre-event press conference. "This dinner is co-organised by TAA and TAR UC to acknowledge and appreciate the dedication and contribution of all TAR UC staff. The dinner will be held on 5 March 2016 at One City@SkyPark USJ 25, Subang Jaya with the theme ‘Colours of TAR UC' and Dato' Sri Liow Tiong Lai, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of TARC Education Foundation and Board of Governors of TAR UC will be attending the dinner," Dato' Yap Kuak Fong, Organising Chairman of TAA CNY cum TAR UC Staff Appreciation Dinner who is also the Deputy President of TAA, added. He also thanked all the sponsors who had contributed towards organising the dinner namely MCT Berhad, B&G Capital Resources Berhad, Ebara Pumps Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Ajiya Berhad, NEP Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd, ALL ICT Solutions (M) Sdn Bhd and Kinsabina Sdn Bhd.

The pre-event press conference continued on with the presentation of ‘Letters of Appreciation' to all the sponsors. A Question & Answer session was also held with the members of the media before the event concluded with a group photography session.
