TAR UC-Red Bull #Ehwaubulan Live Canvas Activation

In a bid to promote Malaysian art and culture among the younger generation, TAR UC collaborated with Red Bull for the #Ehwaubulan Live Canvas Activation Campaign. This one-of-a-kind campaign had approximately 120 students from the Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Graphic Design and Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Hons) in Multimedia Design together with staff from the Department of Creative Arts congregating to create a masterpiece depicting the ‘Wau' which is an intricately designed Malaysian moon-kite and other traditional art elements of Malaysia.

The launch ceremony which was held on 14 June 2016 at Canteen 1 of TAR UC Main Campus had the presence of Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC and Ms Dearna Kee June Chen, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Arts and Humanities (‘FSAH'). Datuk Dr Tan had the pleasure of painting a small portion of the artwork which was firstly drawn by full-time artist Ms Halina Murang, after which the remainder of the artwork was developed and painted by the students and staff of the Department of Creative Arts.

Upon completion, the finished art piece will be submitted for entry into the Red Bull #Ehwaubulan Competition where 59 shortlisted artworks will be featured in an art exhibition at the end of August 2016. This is to coincide with Malaysia's 59th year of achieving independence.

"Today's event is to create awareness among the art students on Red Bull's campaigns in the field of art. TAR UC is one of the higher learning institutions selected for this campaign as we are aware that there are many art students in TAR UC and it is known that TAR UC students are very skilful in producing creative artwork. As such, we collaborate with TAR UC to enable these creative students to submit their work for the Red Bull #Ehwaubulan Competition," explained Jolena Chan, team member of Red Bull product of Europe.
