TAR UC's delegation made a pleasant visit to the University of Salford (‘UOS') in Manchester, United Kingdom where they visited approximately 20 TAR UC students who were undertaking the Dual Award Study Abroad programme in UOS. The visit which took place from 14 – 16 March 2016 was led by Assoc Prof Dr Ng Swee Chin, Vice President of TAR UC and was accompanied by Ms Dearna Kee June Chen, Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Arts and Humanities ('FSAH') and Ms Teng Sok Hooi, Associate Dean, Department of Creative Arts, FSAH.
The delegation visited the students from the Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Fashion Design, Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Hons) in Multimedia Design and Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Broadcasting programmes. Part of their visit included observing the students in the classroom. Besides visiting the students, TAR UC team also visited the state-of-the-art campus of UOS.
TAR UC established the Dual Award programme with UOS in 2014 for five Bachelor (Hons) programmes offered by FSAH namely the Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Fashion Design, Bachelor of Design (Hons) in Graphic Design, Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Hons) in Multimedia Design, Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Broadcasting and Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Journalism. As the name suggests, the Dual Award programme enables students to graduate with two degrees, one from TAR UC and another from UOS. In addition to this, students who enrol for the Dual Award Programme will have the opportunity to study for one semester in the School of Arts and Media, UOS. Such arrangement will provide students with study abroad experience where studying in a different country will help students to appreciate the different cultures, increase student mobility and enhance global thinking. These are vital especially now where globalisation is the way forward.
