51 students from the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCS) attended a workshop conducted representatives from Amazon Web Services (AWS) Singapore. The workshop on AWS Skills to Jobs (AWS STJ) was sponsored by the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and was held on 25 March 2024. The aim of the workshop was to help prepare students for future interviews which would involve demonstrating technical competencies, teaching participants how to articulate technical terms and to get comfortable with white boarding.
One of the student’s feedback was that the trainer was not only informative but also engaging and the student appreciated the opportunity to learn about Cloud knowledge and about the AWS services. Another student highlighted the workshop was very beneficial in enhancing understanding on the pivotal role of cloud technology in business operations and having an overview of the fundamental structure of AWS. The student also appreciated the insights shared by representatives from eCloudValley and CIMB bank where learning about their experiences and the mindset they had before starting their internships was invaluable. Additionally, another student mentioned how the workshop helped in the student’s confidence for future interviews, especially the part on ‘How to talk to future employer’. The workshop also helped the student understand that experiences are important for everyone and it is important to always keep up with trends, especially fresh graduates.
