Health and Fitness Expo 2018

The Health and Fitness Expo 2018, the first of its kind at TAR UC, kicked off from 31 May – 2 June 2018 at the Sports Complex, Kuala Lumpur Main Campus with the theme “Healthy Living for a Better Tomorrow”. The expo organised by the Faculty of Applied Sciences (‘FOAS’) was held in conjunction with the 3rd FIEP Asia Conference in Physical Education and Sports 2018.

At the opening ceremony, Chong Yao Seng, the organising chairperson gave his opening address to all the attendees at the expo. “Choosing a healthy lifestyle is not a fad. It is making a conscious decision towards living a healthy lifestyle for good health,” he enthused. Assoc Prof Dr Ng Swee Chin, Vice President of TAR UC, then spoke about the fitness expo being a remarkable event which promoted good healthy living practices among students and staff in order for them to live healthily. “TAR UC has come a long way over the last 49 years to where it is today and will continue to grow and develop over the years to come, where it will not only promote holistic education but constantly encourage more health, fitness and sporting events and activities in the future with the aim to increase awareness of achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle that incorporates the mind, body and soul”, she said.

Assoc Prof Dr Ng Swee Chin then launched the expo by kicking a ball into a mini goalpost that was set up on stage. After that, souvenirs were presented to the Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors of the expo namely, Movement First Sports Rehabilitation, VR Lab, Love Earth Organic (Gold sponsors), Alfapen Services PLT (Silver sponsor) and Malaysia Purple League (Bronze sponsor), followed by a tour around the health and fitness booths.

The three-day expo showcased 27 exhibition booths, three separate talks and two interactive exercise classes that were carried out  to promote  the very essence of health and fitness.
