TAR UMT and Runjian Co., Ltd. have officially entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to establish the AI Computing Power Alliance on 31 March 2026. This partnership marks the launch of TAR UMT’s first dedicated AI Computing Centre, a high-performance infrastructure for AI innovation that bridges academic research with real-world industrial applications for Malaysia and the region.

The collaboration provides TAR UMT with an industrial-grade high-speed network that links the campus directly to Runjian’s global technology infrastructure. It allows the University to access high-tier AI processing power on a flexible, project-by-project basis through the industrial-grade high-speed network. By leveraging Runjian's cutting-edge technology through TAR UMT’s academic talent, the alliance serves as a practical facility for research, development, and professional training in the digital age. This ensures the University remains at the cutting edge of technology within an efficient and scalable ecosystem. To expand the reach of this collaboration, experts from TAR UMT and Runjian will also work closely with organisations to help them transition into AI-driven operations. This hands-on guidance helps businesses explore practical solutions.

President of TAR UMT, Prof Dato’ Indera Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, highlighted the necessity of this evolution in his address. “AI is dominating the world, where innovations and discoveries are uncovered rapidly. Industrial collaborations such as this remain vital to ensure the transfer of knowledge is relevant, strategic and will help the University community to be innovative and original. This very first AI centre at TAR UMT will expose our students to real-world AI applications, ensuring they are prepared for a future driven by these emerging technologies.”

As a publicly listed company and a leading force in digital infrastructure, Runjian Co., Ltd. brings world-class expertise and a proven track record in deploying large-scale intelligent systems. By working closely with a global leader in AI technology, TAR UMT ensures its students and faculty are operating on a platform utilised by major industries, providing them with a competitive edge in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

Mr Ding Yong, President of the AI Business Group at Runjian Co., Ltd., emphasised that the collaboration is built upon three fundamental pillars. “Our mission is clear: to provide AI technology for the university, to develop professional talents who are market-ready, and to provide value for industries in the region,” he noted. “This is a joint endeavour between China and ASEAN in advancing AI innovation.”
