TAR UC has gone down in history to become the first institution of higher learning to attain the Champion title in the inaugural Adobe Certified Associate ('ACA') Championship at national level which was held in Kuala Lumpur. Ng Hwa Ee, a Bachelor of Creative Multimedia (Hons) in Multimedia Design student, beat approximately 400 students from 32 higher learning institutions to claim the top spot. The national level of the championship was organised by Acestar, a corporate IT solutions provider and the prize-giving ceremony was held on 29 June 2016.

Before participants were able to compete in the Championship, they were required to sit for the Adobe Certified Associate Examination in order to be certified to enter the championship. In the Championship, contestants were required to design a poster for Project Try, an NGO which is doing community work in East Malaysia.

Hwa Ee was overjoyed with his win as he did not expect to be named as the champion. "I decided to try a different approach in designing this poster as the style I chose required a lot of illustration and drawing. I spent a lot of time drawing and redrawing to determine which artwork was suitable for the poster before I could start designing it  using the computer. As such, I found that I had limited time to execute the artwork. However, the revision I did for the Adobe Certified Associate Examination was very helpful for me in the championship and my lecturer, Mr Yong Cheng Fei was very supportive and motivated me to do my best," he explained.

Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC, was very proud with Hwa Ee's achievement. "Hwa Ee not only proves that he is a skilful designer but he has also demonstrated that he is able to create new concepts and ideas and turn them into award-winning designs. These are the traits that are in demand by the industry and as such, this is what TAR UC is focused on to ensure that our students are able to deliver and exceed expectations from the industries," he said.

Ng Hwa Ee won himself certificates and a trophy besides an all-expense paid trip to Orlando, USA where he will be representing Malaysia to compete in the ACA World Championship to be held from 7 - 10 August 2016.
