Since her high school days at St George’s Girls’ School, George Town, Penang, Selena Lee Si Yun has aspired to embark on a career in accounting, leading to her enrolling with TAR UMT under the Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance.

Her determination to achieve her ambition was further strengthened when she achieved First in Malaysia for the Advanced Taxation (ATX) paper in the recent ACCA September 2023 examination.

“I have been aiming for a career in accounting since my upper secondary school years, but I never thought that such an accomplishment would be possible for me.

“It was a challenging experience preparing myself for the exam. To overcome this, I stuck to a strict but simple schedule that helped me understand the complex tax concepts within ATX. I even did my own research via online resources to help me understand the materials better,” she added.

Selena also credited her lecturer Mr Goh Keat Siew for guiding her to success.

“Mr Goh was always available to guide me in the right direction, clarifying complex concepts and sharing valuable insights to help me understand the intricate topics. His support and the strong fundamentals I gained from my other lecturers at TAR UMT helped me accomplish this result today, and I am thankful for that.”

Selena will look forward to completing all her ACCA papers by 2024 before advancing to a future career in accounting.

“This achievement is a great motivation for me to give my all in achieving my ambition in accounting, and I’m looking forward to my career after graduation and hopefully to contribute back to society!”
