The inaugural Coventry University Graduation Ceremony was successfully held on 7 May 2016 to confer Bachelor’s degree to the graduands. This celebratory event was held for TAR UC students who have successfully completed the TAR UC – Coventry University Dual Award Programme. There are altogether 165 TAR UC students who are qualified to graduate with the Dual Award for having completed their programmes and fulfilled the requirements for graduation. The graduation ceremony was held in the Plenary Theatre at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and was attended by the families and friends of the graduands. The event gave the students the experience of attending Coventry University graduation ceremony in Malaysia and share the day with those who have supported them throughout their studies.

The convocation ceremony saw the attendance of Coventry University representatives and they were Mr Tim Matthews, Member of the Board of Governors, Coventry University, Mr Jeff Clowes, Acting Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Law, Dr Donald Finlay, Associate Dean (Internationalisation), Faculty of Business and Law and Mr Danny Ryan, Deputy Head of the School of Economics, Finance and Accounting, Faculty of Business and Law. Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC was also present accompanied by the four Vice Presidents and senior management members of TAR UC.

These are the first graduands from TAR UC’s Dual Award collaboration with Coventry University in the areas of Finance and Business. Some of the students who graduated on the day also had the opportunity to go to UK and study at Coventry Campus as part of the Study Abroad Option. The innovative collaboration also provides the option for students to complete the Dual Award programme entirely in Malaysia as well.

TAR UC’s Dual Award collaboration with Coventry University was established in 2014. The collaboration covers 9 Bachelor Degree programmes under the Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business of TAR UC. Students who choose to pursue the Dual Award programme will be awarded with two Bachelor’s Degrees; one from TAR UC and another from Coventry University, upon successful completion of the programme. Besides this, students are also given the choice to complete one semester in Coventry University in the UK under the Study Abroad Option. Such option offers students an invaluable experience of understanding different cultures and global trends. With Dual award, it will enhance students’ global mobility which is increasingly important in this age of globalisation.
