Another Achievement in Cybersecurity Competition

Team Cincai is once again in the spotlight after securing the First Runner-up spot in the Malaysia category at the APU Battle of Hackers (BOH) 2023, held at Asia Pacific University (APU) on 2 December 2023. Team members Ong Sheng He, Wang Teng Zheng and Choo Chi Siang, all studying the Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) in Information Security programme, competed against 141 teams in the Jeopardy-style Capture the Flag (CTF) competition comprising two categories; local and Asean.

The competition aimed to increase students’ awareness of cybersecurity, and to engage them in a simulation of cybersecurity-based activities. It assessed teams across nine hacking categories, including Reverse Engineering, Web Vulnerabilities, Boot2Root, OSINT, Forensics, Cryptography, Pwn, Miscellaneous, and Threat Hunting inter alia. The team accumulating the highest points by solving the challenges was declared the winner.

Besides Team Cincai, 5 other teams from TAR UMT competed in the competition.
