New Premises for Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business

The Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business (‘FAFB’) of TAR University College moved to its new premises and recently held its Office Warming ceremony on 24 February 2016. The new premises are located at the eastern part of TAR University College which is now known as the East Campus. Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR University College, was present to officiate the ceremony witnessed by staff and invited guests.

Playing host to all invited guests present that morning, Ms Wong Hwa Kiong, Dean of FAFB expressed her deepest appreciation to the management of TAR University College for providing such a commodious premises for the faculty to operate in. “With the great support provided by the management of TAR University College, we successfully moved into the East Campus on 7 January 2016. I have only my deepest gratitude to Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok and the management of TAR University College in providing us these premises to function in. With a much bigger space, I am confident that FAFB will strive to greater heights in delivering quality education to produce higher calibre business students,” she added.

In his welcoming address, Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok commended FAFB for its significant achievements especially in producing many quality business students. He said: “Over the last 46 years, FAFB has grown by leaps and bounds and has built a very strong reputation in the provision of business education particularly professional education such as ACCA, CIMA and ICSA. It has also established strong linkages with professional bodies, the industry and foreign universities in the UK, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand”.

“FAFB is the largest faculty in the University College with about 12,000 students, contributing about 50% of the total student population of TAR University College. It is my wish that FAFB will soar to new heights from its new premises at this East Campus,” he further added.

At the same ceremony, Datuk Dr Tan presented ‘Letters of Commendation’ to two Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) students who were top in Malaysia in the latest ACCA December 2015 examination. EE Sun Zhe won the top spot for paper P5 Advanced Performance Management while Lim Si Ying emerged top in Malaysia for paper P1 Governance, Risk and Ethics. Besides winning the top spot in the country, Ee Sun Zhe emerged second in the world for the same paper and Lim Si Ying emerged fifth in the world for the same paper.

Another highlight in the ceremony was TAR University College celebrating its 47th anniversary on the same day.  As a celebratory gesture in conjunction with this auspicious occasion, Datuk Dr Tan together with the Vice Presidents, each of them cut a cake.

The event ended with a group photography session comprising the management of TAR University College and FAFB, after which the group visited the ground floor of the administration block. The East Campus consists of one administration block, one lecture block consisting of six lecture halls, one block comprising a canteen, a convenience store and tutorial rooms, four tutorial blocks and one postgraduate and research block.
