TAR UC has agreed to collaborate with School of Agility Grit and Entrepreneurship (‘SAGE’) of the Global Learning Solutions Pte Ltd (‘GLS’) in a virtual signing ceremony on 15 April 2021 for the pilot run of the SPARK + ADOPT Entrepreneurship programme.

The scope of the programme includes an onboarding session, training needs analysis, 9 learning courses on agility, grit and entrepreneurship, personal development, learning integration activity, business ideation workshop and presentation of solution prototypes and experts panel feedback.

During the ceremony, Mr Roger Collantes, Chief Executive Officer of SAGE, spoke of his aspirations for this collaboration in his opening remark. “This signing is indeed momentous because we are really looking forward to making our platform available to students who will be given the opportunity to become entrepreneurs. This programme was created for the purpose of equipping students, especially the millennials with entrepreneurial skills. We were looking for a university that embodies the same vision that we had and we found TAR UC. We believe this partnership is just the beginning of more good things to come,” he said.

Dr Oo Pou San, Vice President of TAR UC, also shared how TAR UC and SAGE were brought together in his opening remark. “We had an opportunity to attend a seminar by SAGE which we found fruitful and we discussed what we could collaborate on. With SAGE’s remarkable background, we will be able to hone the entrepreneurial skills of our students from business ideation, right up to pitching, setting up their own company, start-up and funding. This is the support we require and I hope students will come up to enroll in this workshop,” he said.

Ms Rina Neoh, Executive Chairman & Founder of SAGE, spoke about how the organisation came to be. “We are fortunate to have TAR UC to partner with. SAGE is fairly new, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt that it was something we needed to do. As I am a Malaysian, I thought of bringing it back to Malaysia. I wanted to give students the opportunity and option to look beyond academia and get into entrepreneurship,” she said.

Prof Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UC, highlighted how the partnership will add another dimension to students’ learning. “This is a good partnership for us to work on. Education has to be more than just classroom learning. We have to go beyond education. Entrepreneurship is one of the key aspects of beyond education. It involves many stakeholders and we need to look for partners. With SAGE, we have established a smart partnership that is beneficial to our students. It will promote the spirit and culture of entrepreneurship,” he said.
