The hallmark of excellence as exemplified by TAR UC’s Centre for Pre-University Studies (‘CPUS’) continues to shine forth when the Centre recently celebrated the achievements of its students in the May / June 2016 Cambridge GCE A Level examination. The certificate and trophy presentation ceremony for the high achievers in the A level and AS level was held on 22 August 2016 at the Auditorium in the Kuala Lumpur Main Campus where Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC, was present to give out the certificates and trophies to the high achievers.

“The Cambridge A Level programme has always been the pride and joy of TAR UC. When the A Level programme commenced in 1987, it had only 29 students. Today, we have grown to become one of the largest Cambridge A Level centres in the country, with a renowned reputation for producing large numbers of high achievers in every examination session. Several hundred thousands of students sit for the Cambridge examinations all over the world every year but our students have regularly proven themselves to be the cream of the crop, by winning awards in the prestigious Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards,” Datuk Dr Tan said in his opening speech.

The audience in the auditorium grew excited when the names of the high achievers were called out to receive their trophies and certificates on stage. For A Level, the passing percentage in the May / June examination was 91.7% where out of this cohort, 30.0% scored excellent results of at least AAB. Out of this, 7 students scored at least 4‘A*’s/4‘A’s and another 7 students scored at least 3‘A*’s/3‘A’s. Another impressive statistics worth highlighting is the passing percentage for individual science papers. For Physics, the passing percentage was 97.0% while the passing percentage for Biology was at 96.0%. In addition, the passing percentage for Chemistry was 97.0%.

On top of this, the presentation for the Best Overall Performance in Cambridge International A Level Examination was also held where Tee Zhen Lee who scored 4’A’*’s took the title for Science while Wong Tzu Hao who achieved 3’A’s 1’B was named as the Best Overall Performance in Cambridge International A Level Examination for Arts.
