TAR UC students were given an eye-opening and impactful talk on entrepreneurship by YBhg Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance, when he took to the stage at the What Malaysian Youth Should Know (‘WMYSK’) 8th Leadership Series on 5 August 2016. The event was organised by Pertubuhan Perintis Malaysia and supported by TAR UC. The talk entitled, “Uncovering Malaysia’s Economics and Entrepreneurship Opportunities” was held at TARC Incubator located in the east of Kuala Lumpur Main Campus and the talk was open to the public as well as students and staff of TAR UC.

During the talk, YBhg Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah, spoke about the endless opportunities for Malaysian youths to become entrepreneurs. “Malaysia’s economy is expanding. Opportunity awaits you. Go into the blue ocean and diversify. Have confidence. It’s all in you. Know what you want and be mentally prepared,” he said.

Besides the talk, he also introduced the audience to his brainchild, the Global Entrepreneurship Movement or in short, GEM, which aims at internationalising the local entrepreneurship ecosystem. It conducts free conferences and monthly networking sessions for those who are interested in entrepreneurship.

Finally, at the end of the event, there was a Memorandum of Understanding (‘MoU’) signed between TAR UC and Pertubuhan Perintis Malaysia with the purpose of sharing a common and fundamental objective of adopting a holistic approach in teaching and learning of the business disciplines.
