TAR UC recently hosted the What Malaysian Youth Should Know ('WMYSK') 6th Leadership series, an initiative organised by Pertubuhan Perintis Malaysia. WMYSK Leadership Series is a series of talks by prominent leaders and renowned figures in various industries who are invited to participate in a dialogue with youth in a semi-formal forum environment. This talk which was held on 21 March 2016 had YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry, delivering a presentation entitled Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement ('TPPA') and Youth - Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats. Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok, President of TAR UC, and Dato' Lawrence Low, Chairman of Pertubuhan Perintis Malaysia, were also present at the talk, which was held at the University College hall.
Approximately 1,620 students and staff from the Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business ('FAFB') attended the talk. When Dato' Sri Mustapa took the stage for his presentation, he highlighted that this was his second visit to TAR UC's Kuala Lumpur Main Campus as his first visit to the campus was about 10 years ago when he was holding the post of the Minister of Higher Education. He presented to the audience information about TPPA and why Malaysia is joining in the TPPA. He continued to elaborate in details on the benefits of TPPA for its member countries in terms of economic and trade prospect.
After the presentation, the floor was opened to question and answer session. A number of TAR UC students were posing questions about TPPA to YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed to have a better understanding on the subject matter. The programme for the day ended with Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok presenting a token of appreciation to YB Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed. Besides this, Dato' Lawrence Low also presented a token of appreciation to Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok as a gesture of appreciation to TAR UC for hosting the talk.
