Established as an institution of higher learning which is recognised for its professionally driven academic programmes, TAR UC has produced many high calibre students who have excelled in their examinations and this includes professional examinations. The latest of such achievements is Lee Yoon Sum, who completed the Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) and went on to win The AmBank Group prize for the best paper in Corporate Financial Management under ICSA International Qualifying Scheme ('IQS') Professional Part 2.

Yoon Sum won the book prize for scoring distinction for the Corporate Financial Management paper. "I am over-joyed with this achievement and I certainly did not expect to win this prize. I owe this achievement to my family members who have been very supportive towards my education. In addition, my gratitude goes to my lecturers who were not only committed to ensuring I understood what had been taught in classes but they were also my mentors where they constantly motivated me to strive for higher goals," he fondly shared.

Yoon Sum who is the second child in the family, joined TAR UC to study the Diploma in Business Studies (Business Administration) before pursuing his Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons). "As my father is a retiree, I had some financial constraints in terms of advancing my education. TAR UC was the perfect fit for me because besides providing excellent education, the University College's fees are very much affordable. Besides this, I am thankful for the many scholarship opportunities available at TAR UC. I was able to pursue my bachelor degree on full scholarship upon obtaining good results for my diploma," he added.

On his choice to pursue the Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons), the bachelor degree programme also provides a path for him to obtain a professional qualification besides the ample career opportunities available for him with this degree. "As a holder of TAR UC's Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) qualification, I was granted the maximum exemptions via the ICSA IQS which enabled me to sit for the last four papers of the ICSA IQS Professional Part 2 examination," he elaborated.

Having worked in a secretarial firm for four months, Yoon Sum is currently exploring the abundant career opportunities available for him. His advice to succeed is through hard work and focus as he said: "Without effort and focus, one cannot succeed in life. I also encourage students to engage in group discussions as it will broaden one's mind to different ideas".
