TAR University College students excel not only in academic pursuit but in other areas as well, including dancing. Such is the case for Ng Wen Hui, a Bachelor of Finance and Investment (Hons) student and Wong Yee Jing, a Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) student who won the 2nd place in the Open University C Latin category and 6th place in the Open Adult C Latin category in the World DanceSport Federation (‘WDSF’) Taipei Open 2015. The competition was held on 31 October & 1 November 2015 in Taipei, where more than 100 pairs of dancers participated.

Wen Hui, a member of TAR University College Dance Society, has been dancing for 10 years now. He shared: “Participating in this championship was challenging, knowing I would be competing against many international professional dancers. However, my instructor’s dedication and encouragement were of great help to me”.

In contrast, Wong Yee Jin, also a member of TAR University College Dance Society, is a new dancer. She explained: “Our instructor did a very good job in coaching me and in helping me build my self-confidence. This gave me a lot of motivation, apart from the support given to me by other society members. The competition was a great exposure for me and it helped sharpened my dancing skills”.

Mr Chua Zjen Fong, the dance instructor and TAR University College alumni had this to say about the students: “These students are very talented but they need more exposure to fine-tune their dancing skills. Upon knowing of this championship, I decided to approach TAR University College to sponsor our trip to Taipei as I believed this international exposure would surely benefit the two students”.
