A Celebration of Excellence in Education at TAR University College Convocation Ceremony

What made the morning of 19 December 2015 extraordinary and significant was the palpable sense of joy, happiness and pride of TAR University College students, all dressed up in their convocation robes and surrounded by their families and friends who were present to celebrate their graduation. Held at the University College Hall, a total of 395 students graduated with a Diploma while 173 students were the last batch of students to graduate with their Advanced Diplomas.

In his opening speech, Mr Chan Kum Wing, Vice President of TAR University College had nothing but commendation towards the graduands for their sheer determination and perseverance to successfully complete their studies. He also encouraged the graduands to pursue their Bachelor degree programmes at TAR University College as he elaborated: “The focus of TAR University College is to ensure all our academic programmes consistently remain relevant to the needs of the industry in producing well-trained and well-informed graduates who will be able to perform at their highest level. As such, I urge all graduands to pursue Bachelor degree programmes to keep you well-equipped so as to put you ahead of the challenges”.

The atmosphere in the University College Hall grew with excitement and joy as family members and friends witnessed their loved ones walking up to the stage to receive their well-deserved scrolls. In addition to this, the highlight of the ceremony was certainly the presentation of Book Prizes to students from the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at Kuala Lumpur Main Campus namely Beh Siew Chu, Teo Boon Wah, Teh Yee Yeang and Hei Min Fen. Lim Mei Erl is another Book Prize winner who hails from Penang Branch Campus.

Beh Siew Chu who graduated with the Diploma in Technology (Property Management) attributed her success to the constant encouragement from her parents as well as the commitment and dedication of her lecturers who ensured her learning experience was fulfilling. Meanwhile, Teo Boon Wah who graduated with the Diploma in Technology (Quantity Surveying) further testified: “My lecturers showed me what true dedication really is as they were willing to spend their time to help me and my friends to clear any doubts or questions in our studies. Also, the lecturers made their effort to make the lecture sessions interesting and I truly appreciate that”.

“I would highly recommend TAR University College not only for its top-notch quality but for its comprehensive and up-to-date learning facilities which truly enhance our practical learning too,” Teh Yee Yeang, who graduated with the Diploma in Technology (Quantity Surveying) proudly commented. Lim Mei Erl who also graduated with the Diploma in Technology (Quantity Surveying) added further: “I will miss the library as I have spent most of my revision times there and not forgetting the Olympic-sized swimming pool and the gym which are my favourite places in campus to relax and exercise”.

Hei Min Fen, another Book Prize winner who graduated with the Diploma in Technology (Quantity Surveying) shared about her future plans: “I can truly relate to what Mr Chan shared in his opening speech on the importance to advance in my education. This is the reason for me to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in TAR University College before I move to Singapore to join the workforce”.
