TAR UMT proudly hosted the IEEE International Conference on Emerging Engineering Technologies and Applications (IC-EETA’25), a hybrid global event jointly organised with Medicaps University, India, on 6 November 2025 at TAR UMT’s Kuala Lumpur campus.
While the full conference ran for three days in India, TAR UMT’s one-day session showcased the university’s leadership in engineering and technology innovation, connecting researchers, industry experts, and students across borders in a shared pursuit of knowledge and impact. This marked the first time the conference was held simultaneously in India and Malaysia.

In his opening address, Prof Dato’ Indera Ir Dr Lee Sze Wei, President of TAR UMT, emphasised the importance of global collaboration in advancing sustainable technological progress:
"The theme of this conference is very timely. Today’s world requires cross-disciplinary approaches to address complex challenges. The rise of digital technologies, AI, and societal expectations for sustainability demands innovative solutions. This is why it is crucial for researchers from different fields and countries to connect, share, and learn from one another. This conference provides an excellent platform for achieving that."
Prof (Dr) Dilip K. Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Medicaps University, added: "Through this conference, we are witnessing the connection of two countries, two universities, and a shared vision — powered by technology, teamwork, and innovation. This is not just a conference; it is a celebration of minds coming together to learn, share, and innovate."
Professor Pramod S. Nair, Organising Chairman of IC-EETA, highlighted the global response: "We are encouraged by the overwhelming participation, with over 680 research papers submitted from 16 countries, including the United States, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brazil, China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, India, Uzbekistan, Jordan, and the UAE. More than 900 expert reviewers meticulously evaluated each submission, ensuring the highest academic standards. From these, 195 papers were shortlisted for presentation this year."

The Malaysian session at TAR UMT featured three keynote presentations led by distinguished academics and industry experts.
Professor Ts Dr Yip Mum Wai (Department of Mechanical Engineering, TAR UMT) presented “System Innovation Through TRIZ”, demonstrating how structured problem-solving frameworks can unlock creative and breakthrough engineering solutions.
Professor Dr Christopher Nigel Preece (Department of Construction Management, TAR UMT) explored “Engineering Trust: From Traditional Foundations to Digital Frontiers”, reimagining trust as the backbone of engineering ethics and ESG-driven development.
Ir Dr Ricky Liew Chee Leong (Head of Engineering, Corporate Jet MRO) delivered an industry talk on “Digital Twin for Aircraft Systems: Models, Integration & Operational Deployment”, providing insights on how digital twin technologies enhance real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance in aerospace systems.
The conference also included paper presentation sessions, giving young researchers a platform to showcase cutting-edge studies in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, sustainable energy, and advanced materials.
IC-EETA’25 underscores the significance of international cooperation in shaping the next generation of engineers and innovators. Through this partnership, TAR UMT and Medicaps University continue to advance their shared vision of fostering global knowledge exchange and technological progress for societal benefit.
