Omron Donates RM96k Worth of Equipment to TAR College



 

As part of the corporate social responsibility initiative, Omron Electronics Sdn Bhd ('Omron') donated a unit of state-of-the-art Programme Logic Controller ('PLC') Servo Trainer Kit with XY Table as well as the accessories worth RM96k to TAR College on 3 December 2012. The equipment can be converted into experiment unit / project to facilitate better understanding of using a Cartesian Robot for operations in automation among the Electronic and Mechatronics Engineering students. This will include experiment on micrometer placement of components, system implementation of signal processors, proximity sensors, counters and control elements which include temperature controller. The PLC Servo Trainer Kit can also be implemented as part of the flexible manufacturing system that is set up in the Mechatronics Laboratory.

In a simple get-together, the PLC Servo Trainer Kit was handed over to the College witnessed by the TAR College management and School of Technology academic team, and the representatives from Omron who were Mr Tiong Khe Hock (Director), Mr Lai Yit Kean (Manager) and Mr Alvin Choi Kwok Wah (Assistant Manager). At the gathering, Mr Tiong mentioned: "In the nineties, Omron also donated PLCs to TAR College for the purpose of training the students. Today's donation reflects our commitment in our corporate social responsibility initiative and we hope to do more with TAR College in transferring knowledge to the students to equip them with the right skills to meet the demands of the industry". He also highlighted that he was impressed with the facilities provided at TAR College.

There was a brief presentation on Omron and its business by Mr Alvin Choi. Thereafter, the group gathered for photographs as well as presentation of souvenirs to all the representatives from Omron.
