TAR UC and Yayasan Hartalega have teamed up to establish the TARC-Yayasan Hartalega Student Loan on 23 October 2018 under the TAR UC Student Loan Fund in order to give more deserving students a chance to pursue their tertiary education.

To kick off the TARC-Yayasan Hartalega Student Loan, Yayasan Hartalega has injected a contribution of RM500,000 towards the student loan. Successful applicants will receive up to RM12,000 per annum valid from the year of the award until the completion of the recipient’s programme of study.

“We offer our deepest appreciation for the generous contribution and benevolent effort shown by Yayasan Hartalega in establishing this student loan. This act demonstrates the trust they have in TAR UC and our mission in giving more needy and deserving students the chance to further their studies while being free from financial constraints,” said Assoc Prof Dr Chook Ka Joo, Vice President of TAR UC at the mock cheque presentation ceremony.

Mr Kuan Mun Leong, Managing Director of Hartalega Holdings Bhd presented the mock cheque to Dr Chook at the UC Main Hall in the Kuala Lumpur Main Campus.

“I personally have a lot of passion for education, and Hartalega has always been active in CSR work for the community and environment in areas surrounding our operations. But with the incorporation of Yayasan Hartalega, we are now able to carry out more impactful and further reaching projects with special focus on education, health and environment.

“We are very pleased to kick off Yayasan Hartalega’s first project with this collaboration with TAR UC on the student loan,” said Mr Kuan.
