TAR UC graduates continue to excel in MAICSA examinations. In the MAICSA June 2018 examinations, Wong Xiao Huei, a Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) graduate, excelled in the Corporate Financial Management and Corporate Administration papers  while Yow Chia Yie, also a Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) graduate, did well in the Corporate Administration paper. Wong Xiao Huei was awarded The AmBank Group Prize for the best paper in Corporate Financial Management and The MINC Group Prize for the best paper in Corporate Administration. Yow Chia Yie, on the other hand was awarded The MINC Group Prize for the best paper in Corporate Administration.

When interviewed, both students said they did not expect to do so well in the ICSA IQS Part 2 examinations. “I was just thinking of doing my best and thought only of passing both subjects. So it really came as a surprise for me when I knew of my achievement for the exams. I have seen the previous years’ book prize winners and I never thought that one day I would be one myself,” said Xiao Huei. Chia Yie on the other hand said: “I attempted two papers and to my surprise, I not only passed both subjects, but I scored a Distinction for Corporate Administration and a Merit for Corporate Financial Management. I am more than happy with the results, as I was just aiming to pass the papers.”

Chia Yie has this piece of advice when it comes to taking examinations. “Do not overstress yourself. Studying is important, but so is getting enough rest and sleep. When things get too overwhelming, take a break, sit down and relax or go out and have some fun. Attempt past year papers or discuss with friends to get answers to questions that you might have. Do your part and everything will work out one way or another,” she said.

Xiao Huei has much to say about the quality education that she had received from TAR UC. “TAR UC’s Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Hons) has given me a strong foundation. Most of the lecturers are very experienced in their fields and are very willing to share their experiences with us. Besides, TAR UC also has a strong collaboration with MAICSA which is why we were familiar with the MAICSA curriculum and examinations very early on while we were still studying our Bachelor’s degree. With much encouragement from the lecturers as well as the backing from TAR UC as a whole, I decided to take the MAICSA professional examinations after my degree,” she said.

Both Xiao Huei and Chia Yie are now attached to companies and are handling corporate secretarial matters. They hope to learn as many things as possible in this area.
